David Bryan:

DAVID SCHMOELLER / Netherworld Director: "Composer David Bryan first came to my attention through the tenacious efforts of Pat Siciliano, head of Moonstone Records. Since I have always used well established composers on my films, I was hesitant to use a first timer, even if he was a founding member of the international super group Bon Jovi. But when I heard David Bryan's demo tape of original piano pieces, I was intrigued enough to have him compose a waltz for the key love scene. David came to our set in New Orleans to play me "THE NETERWORLD WALTZ" an I immediately knew he was the right composer. The biggest challenge facing David was to capture the film's tone. "NETHERWORLD" is in large part a mood piece, which made it critical for the music to match and enhance the mystical atmosphere I was trying to create. The piano, saxophone and oboe were the three key instruments that David used to capture the fun, sensuality and suspense of "NETHERWORLD". After working with some of the world's top composers, I think David Bryan is destined to follow in the footsteps of other rock Musicians such as Danny Elfman ("Batman") and Mark Knopfler ("Princess Bride") who have also become first-class composers. As a native Texan, Edgar Winter and his music were legendary for me. Having him perform four songs in my film was a particular thrill. But what impressed me the most about Edgar was his extraordinary professionalism. We didn't have the luxury of time while shooting "NETHERWORLD" which put a great deal of pressure on Edgar and David to rehearse and record the songs during our brief forty-five minute lunches. It was a superhuman feat that would have been impossible without Edgar's remarkable discipline and exceptional talent. But best of all, his songs are terrific."
